ARTIST STATEMENT:

Quality Time
Why are campfires so appealing? By yourself or quietly with your favourite person, you can sit for hours mesmerized by the crackling logs as they are slowly consumed, the dancing flames constantly changing position or the sparks slowly disappearing into the sky. Or sitting in a circle with a group of friends, you laugh at stories and shared memories or belt out your favourite tunes, as conversations ebb and flow. Campfires bring warmth to chase away the chill in the air, and the taste of food is elevated simply by being cooked over the fire. Campfires seem to make time stand still; they foster a sense of intimacy and relaxation and provide warmth, light, and community.
