Virtual Saskatchewan Fine Art Fair Sneaks In Real Life

With most events shifting from on location to virtual, what does a fine art fair do? The answer is, both.

Art Now, the Saskatchewan Fine Art Fair, has shifted to both on location and online. This Friday and Saturday, September 25 and 26 Art Now invites the public to its on-location art fair at 16 Saskatchewan gallery locations.

In its fifth year, Art Now Saskatchewan’s Fine Art Fair has been live for the past week online after re-imagining how to connect art, artists, galleries, and the public through a pandemic. This past week, the art curious worldwide have chatted with gallerists, attended panel discussions and artists talks, and purchased art on artnow.ca. But now Saskatchewan residents can visit the galleries, view the art, and enjoy artist talks, live paintings and carvings while remaining safe and within health guidelines.

“We know that for many art buyers, seeing and experiencing art in real life is part of the incredible experience. It’s an outing and an enlivening experience for so many people…so that’s why we distilled a 10,000 square foot art fair into 16 locations in addition to being a virtual art fair,” says Linda Stark, chair of Art Now. “Now more than ever, art is needed by all of us,” she adds.

The public can see all the details and download a map for a tour of the art fair at https://www.artnow.ca/online/on-location-galleries. The first 50 visitors to each participating on location gallery will receive a free Art Now tote bag.

Produced by SaskGalleries, Art Now is in its fifth year of bringing premier commercial galleries together to sell art. Art Now is made possible with the generous support of Creative Saskatchewan, Tourism Saskatchewan, Business / Arts, and other sponsors, supporters, and partners.

COVID-19 – attendees are asked to please check each gallery's respective COVID-19 protocols before attending. Galleries will have masks and hand sanitizer available on site. All activities will respect physical distancing guidelines set out by the Saskatchewan's Chief Medical Health Officer at the time of the event.
