A Reimagined Art Fair Experience
Art Now, Saskatchewan’s Fine Art Fair, is back for its 5th edition in a new, virtual, format. All artwork and programming will be hosted on artnow.ca from September 17-27, 2020. Participating galleries will also be hosting come-and-go tours on location, taking place on September 25 and 26.
Typically alternating annually between venues in Regina and Saskatoon, Art Now provides an opportunity for the public to view and purchase art from commercial galleries across Western Canada. This year’s circumstances have inspired a reimagined fair in an online space, which means the best in modern and contemporary art is just a click away.
The 5th edition of Art Now is unique in that all participating galleries are SaskGalleries members, making this year’s iteration an all-Saskatchewan affair; attendees will be able to enjoy a multitude of works displayed by 17 galleries from across the province. Art will be available in a variety of sizes, styles, mediums, and price points, so whether you’re an established art-lover or are just dipping your toes into the world of art, there should be something for everyone.
Programming this year has been designed in response to our socially-distanced world, including virtual artist talks and Zoom sessions on how to incorporate art into interior spaces, how to purchase artwork online, and how the pandemic can influence how we create and respond to art. A special gallery for kids’ art will also be on display during the fair.
On location events will be taking place across 16 participating galleries on September 25 and 26, featuring art installations, pop-up exhibitions, artists on site, live painting, and more. A complete list of on location galleries and events can be found at artnow.ca.
Art Now’s opening night reception will be held on Thursday, September 17 at 6pm, and can be accessed via personal access code. Complimentary codes can be reserved by contacting coordinator@saskgalleries.ca. Opening night attendees will have first access to purchase works, are invited to mingle with gallerists online, and can enter for a chance to win one of 20 door prizes.
