C.R.E.A.M. art installation / 2023 art now fine art fair

Installation: C.R.E.A.M. (Collection and Reuse of Environmental and Available Means)

View C.R.E.A.M. by Saskatchewan artist, Todd Gronsdahl on display September 14 until 17 at the Art Now Fine Art Fair.

Todd is an entrepreneur and visual artist who lives with his young family in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He studied visual art and industrial design at ECUAD and has since exhibited all over Saskatchewan, Canada and Internationally. He has received awards from The Saskatchewan Arts Board, The Canada Council for the Arts, The Banff Centre for the Arts, and more. Todd's work is centered around The Saskatchewan Maritime Museum, a sprawling narrative in which he explores themes of nostalgia, nationalism, and utopias. Like an anthropologist speculating on an artifact, his hope is that audiences will jump to conclusions about the work unearthing hitherto unknown “facts” that subvert official history.

About C.R.E.A.M.

2021, repurposed industrial wood panels, found objects, recycled flooring, variable dimensions.

In Gronsdahl’s work titled C.R.E.A.M.(Collection and Reuse of Environmental and Available Means), his approach to perseverance and care playfully come to the fore through both concepts and materials. Gronsdahl’s mobile rain and sun powered coffee stand has been partly re-purposed from elements of previous works and suggests it kind of low impact conviviality. However, this work also marks the fine line between stylish, environmentally friendly lifestyle and precarious living due to the effects of neoliberal capitalism. This work also suggests a host/guest relationship and intention to walk (or ride a bike) softly as a settler on these territories.
